An evening at the Gänsemarkt Opera
The curtain rises, and the Gänsemarkt Opera in Hamburg (the largest bourgeois German stage for decades around the 1700s) welcomes you to an evening packed with music by the Hamburg baroque composers Reinhard Keiser, Georg Caspar Schürmann and Georg Philipp Telemann.
In their role as ambassador to Elbe and Alster, Ensemble Schirokko Hamburg bring rarely heard jewels to new life: a fascinating collage of arias and instrumental music can be heard, transporting the audience into a long-forgotten, dazzling world of opera.
A distant world where the protagonists love and suffer, laugh and cry so genuinely, they are soon part of us…
15 musicians: 6 violins, 2 violas, cello, violone, 2 oboes, bassoon, harpsichord/organ and lute.
